At the moment I'm working on my third book (Sidenote: I can hardly believe that I've actually written two books let alone a major publisher paid me to do it!) and I know many people often wonder what the 'writing process' is like.
Sure, no one really cares what MY writing process is... but it is so simple that I can't not share it: procrastination. I've been putting off writing stuff for a couple weeks now, which isn't good since my deadline is fast approaching.
Luckily, this weekend has been set aside to focus on getting some verbiage on the page. My goal is three chapters done by Monday. Can I do it?
Who knows!
But I do know that once I get on a writing roll I can words to paper pretty quickly (and usually in the right order, which is a neat trick).
I was all excited to see the title of your blog post; I thought, "Hey, maybe I could even ask Scott if I could use that post as an example when I teach my ENG 100 Fundamentals of Writing class!"
But then I thought that I'd be a crummy English teacher if I pushed procrastination on my students...although I can admit now that I'm way past those rudimentary writing classes that there is something to be said for last minute pressure. If only that worked for more people.

I can relate to the whole procrastination thing. I've written and published three books in one year, but haven't finished writing my dissertation for my Doctor of Education degree in 5 years! Gotta get that done!

Dear Scott,
I am 65 years old. I live in Virginia Beach. All of this technology stuff is new to me. I started a web site last year and have had difficulty communicating with 3 separate web designers. The first guy I worked with set up the shell for the web site using Word Press. He lived in New Hampshire, it was difficult to communicate by e-mail. I was suppose to find a local person to finish it. The local guy was not familiar with WordPress and broke up the site badly. It had to be re-built. I found a new web person who put it back together - but that person no longer wants to work with me.
I want to have a blog on my website - it is all set up - but I need some one to work with me that has a lot of patience. I ask a lot of questions.
I have read your book. I have found it helpful. But I am too frightened to try out new things with out someone sitting next to me. I am afraid I might mess up my web site. It has happened before.
I need to find someone locally who is familiar with WordPress that can sit next to me and tutor me in Word Press. I would like the person to read your book with me and show me how to do the implement the things in your book.
If you can supply me with some names of tutors that can sit with me to teach me I would be most appreciative.
Thank you. Elaine Levenson 757-496-3701
